What is ward 66?
Ward 66 is my home, it is a demarcation, set out by the South African government. In my opinion, wards are where politics actually start, I think.
I stand corrected, but the way I see it, wards are the forefront of politics. It is where political parties in my opinion, should show the residing people of the community what they are made of.
Wards are in a way, governed by the ward counselors. Ward counselors are there firstly, to put the best interests of residents before anything else and here would be the best opportunity for them to show voting residents what their political parties are made of.
I'm not a ward counselor, but I'm a ward committee member and I assist the ward counselor voluntarily in the running of the ward.
what I mean about me being like a whip.
In South Africa, most wards are either poor communities or middle class or rich communities, however ward 66 strangely enough falls under all three categories.
I personally live in the poorer side of ward 66, so guess what? When it comes to service delivery, being poorer means that not so many people are to interested, so service delivery becomes practically none existent. That is where I had no choice, but to step in and in a sense, take ward 66 by the horns.
Ok, so now it has come to this. I'm ready and prepared to run for ward counselor of ward 66.
In fact, I'm not just ready, I am going to run for ward counselor of ward 66 !
Yes, I understand that this post is part of my campaign to run for my ward and as usual when an individual is campaigning, promises of a better life in the ward are always there!!
Obviously, then one has to wait 5 years before the next election, before one picks another ward counselor. In the meantime, our property value deteriorates, unsavory people move into our neighborhoods, good people start moving out, and then!!!!!!... Disaster strikes and our suburbs suddenly become slums! Our houses suddenly are not worth the ground that they are built on and what we all worked so hard for, suddenly is not worth a penny!
Now you ask, what makes me different from anyone else??? That's easy!! I have a passion!
I have been doing counselor standard work in ward 66 now going for five years. I don't have to make promises and I will not make promises. I don't need to! Why? Because I have a track record of my hard work in ward 66,
and I don't have to say anything, because I have proof of my achievements. My track record speaks for itself!
I will post only some of the news clippings and once you been through them, then you, not me, decide if I deserve to be your next ward counselor. You decide if you will vote for me, when the time comes.
I also think that its very important, to tell you that the articles that I am showing you here, are but only a few, of many newspaper articles about my work.
Dear fellow community members, every single article posted above, happens to be related to me. It is all about my ward service delivery and other campaigns, that I have fought on behalf of the community. There are many, many more newspaper articles of course, the ones posted above, are obviously the more prominent ones and most are front page articles, but believe me when I tell you, that these articles are but a drop in the bucked!
As you can see, I'm very passionate about my community. I also believe that a community like mine, needs someone like me, to look after them.
I intend to do everything in my power, to make sure that the people living in ward 66, people across the socio-economic divide, have the same kind of service as any other person across South Africa. After all, we are all tax payers of this great Country!
Totally agree with your sentiment!
ReplyDeleteAs a South African,I am fed up with
politicians and ward councilors
who promise the world come election
time, but after they have won the
election, they become ghosts and
promises are never kept either!
I'd much rather vote for a straight
talking person like yourself who has
proved himself in the community, than
someone who appears shortly before
election time, promising me the world!
You have my vote when the time comes.
Keep up the good work!

ReplyDeleteSince moving to the area 12 year's ago, I have personally witnissed Mr da Rocha's unwavering efforts to prevent the deterioration of Ward 66.
ReplyDeleteHe has dealt with issues ranging from municipal to criminal and through sheer tenacity and determination has achieved positive results.
I have no doubt in my mind that if it wasn't for Mr da Rocha's intervention in our area, we would be in a even more dire situation today.
In this day and age we need community orientated people more than ever to affect positive change.
In my opinion, Mr da Rocha is one of these people and I can not think of anybody better for the job at hand.
He surely will get my vote !
